OUR STORY
Three Decades Serving Volusia County’s Hispanic Community
The Volusia County Hispanic Association was founded in 1995 by a small group of local Hispanic leaders who saw the need for a unified voice representing the county’s growing Hispanic community. Three decades later, VCHA is one of the most recognized Hispanic organizations in Central Florida, bridging cultural gaps, advancing education, and connecting families with the resources they need to thrive. VCHA operates from its headquarters at 100 E New York Ave Ste 103 in DeLand, FL 32724, and can be reached directly at 386-245-7885.
VCHA’s work rests on four pillars. Cultural Celebration brings the community together through the Latin Festival, Parrandas, and other events that preserve and celebrate Hispanic heritage. Education supports scholarship programs and school-readiness efforts like the Back to School Bash. Civic Engagement builds relationships with local government and encourages community participation. Family Support connects families across Volusia County with resources, partnerships, and a supportive community network.
Each fall, the Latin Festival brings thousands of attendees together in West Volusia for a vibrant celebration of Hispanic culture, with authentic cuisine from across Latin America, live music and dance performances, artisan vendors, and children’s activities. Every summer, the Back to School Bash helps local children across Deltona, DeBary, Orange City, and DeLand start the school year ready to succeed, distributing free backpacks filled with school supplies, offering complimentary haircuts and health screenings, and connecting families with educational resources. The year closes with the Mayor’s Winter Ball, an elegant fundraising gala with a formal dinner, live entertainment, dancing, and auctions that supports VCHA’s programs for the year ahead, and with Parrandas en el Anfiteatro, a celebration of traditional Puerto Rican parranda culture.
VCHA’s calendar also includes the Hispanic Heritage Gala each October, a dedicated celebration of Hispanic heritage in West Volusia, and community partnerships such as the Voices of Vision Conference, co-presented with local business and community leaders to bring speakers in law, finance, wellness, and literature to Central Florida audiences.
VCHA’s mission is to promote cultural awareness, support educational advancement, foster civic participation, and empower the Hispanic community of Volusia County through programs, events, and partnerships that strengthen the fabric of the community. The 2026 calendar includes the Back to School Bash on July 26 (free backpacks, school supplies, complimentary haircuts, and health screenings for local children), a Latin Music Concert on September 12, the milestone 30th Latin Festival on September 19 (thousands of attendees enjoying authentic Latin American cuisine, live music and dance performances, and artisan vendors), the 1st Annual Hispanic Heritage Gala on October 16, the Mayor's 2nd Winter Ball on December 11 (a formal dinner, live entertainment, dancing, and auctions), and Parrandas en el Anfiteatro at the Deltona Amphitheater on December 19.
